The Accent XL utilizes radiofrequency (RF), which is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment performed on many people who lack recovery time. Radiofrequency is generated though the hand piece and creates heat as it is moved along the skin. This heat stimulates fibroblasts in the skin to restart their production of collagen and strengthen the skin’s elasticity. By stimulating the body’s natural production of collagen in response to the treatment’s energy, the skin looks fuller and plumper, with unwanted lines smoothed.
The Accent XL is a totally non-invasive treatment, meaning that the top layers of the skin are not damaged for the treatment to be performed. Most patients leave the office appearing slightly pink in color, but this fades rapidly and most people can go immediately back to their regular schedule with no recovery time.
Most patients initially require a series of 4 to 6 treatments done a month apart from each other to obtain the best results. Accent XL is often performed in conjunction with Botox or Fillers, such as Juvederm or Radiesse to enhance the results. These treatments may be performed on the same treatment visit.

The Accent/Skin Tightening treatment is contraindicated if you have one of more of the following:
- Scarring or infection in the treatment area
- Photosensitivity due to disease or medications
- Pregnancy or lactating
- Diabetes
- Anticoagulative or thromboembolic conditions
- Pacemaker or internal defibrillator
- Undiagnosed dysfunctional uterine bleeding
